Annik, dein podcasts sind prima! I am only a beginner, but I am able to pick up different expressions and increase my understanding each time I listen. The speed is perfect. I have listened to other “langsam gesprochen” podcasts and they are SO slow that you loose the cadence and flow of the sentence. Because German word order can be very different from English, I think it’s important to maintain some flow, otherwise the your brain will focus on individual words (or split verb parts) and lose the overall message.

One note on the Denglish term “Beamer”. In English, among enthusiasts, the term is actually “Bimmer”, and often mispronounced as “Beemer” by non-enthusiasts. Aber bitte nicht, noch nie “Beamer”! LOL. From Wikipedia…

In the US, specialists have been at pains to prescribe that a distinction must be made between using Beemer exclusively to describe BMW motorcycles, and using Bimmer only to refer to BMW cars, in the manner of a “true aficionado” and avoid appearing to be “uninitiated.” The Canadian Globe and Mail prefers Bimmer and calls Beemer a “yuppie abomination,” while the Tacoma News Tribune says it is a distinction made by “auto snobs.” Using the wrong slang risks offending BMW enthusiasts. An editor of Business Week was satisfied in 2003 that the question was resolved in favor of Bimmer by noting that a Google search yielded 10 times as many hits compared to Beemer.

Wie immer, vielen Dank für ihren Podcasts. Bei Slow German fand ich es viel leichter, mein Deutsch zu verbessern.

Jetzt mache ich meinen “A-levels” (Englisches Abitur), und habe schon ein Jahr getan. aber jetzt, lernen wir fast ganz “Denglisch”!! Manchmal kann ich nicht glauben, wie viele Englischen Wörte auf Deutsch benutzt sind. Es ist aber sehr nützlich, wenn ich ein Deutsches Wort nicht kenne weil ich es oft vermuten können

Alles gute zur Zukunft! (und ich hoffe, dass ihr mich verstehen können!)

Ich finde es grauenhaft und entsetzlich, wie unsere schöne, wortreiche deutsche Sprache immer mehr dezimiert, zerstört und verhunzt wird!
„Handicap“ – statt Behinderung/ Einschränkung !
„Hi“ – statt Hallo !
„Kids“ – statt Kinder !
„Flyer“ – statt Faltblatt !
„Lifecouch“ – statt Lebenstrainer / Lebenswart !
„Blockbuster“ – statt Straßenfeger !
„Sale“ – statt Schlußverkauf !
„Statement“ – statt Aussage/Wortmeldung ! u.s.w.
Wir verlernen immer mehr, UNSERE Sprache zu benutzen und verwenden stattdessen unnütze amerikanische Worte, worüber die Amis sich lustig machen (Zitat Los Angeles Time, April 2001: „Das ist eine sprachliche Unterwürfigkeit ohnesgleichen…“).
Unsere gute, stabile deutsche Währung, die Deutsche Mark wurde uns genommen, ohne daß wir gefragt wurden! Daß nun unsere schöne, ausdrucksstarke und reiche Muttersprache erhalten und bewahrt bleibt, das liegt an JEDEM von uns selbst!
Bereits 1943 kündigten die Amis an, nach dem Krieg unserer Sprache die Ursprünglichkeit zu nehmen und sie zu amerikanisieren – wollen wir ihnen diesen Gefallen freiwillig tun…? NEIN!!!

this is waayy too fast for me! im very bad in german. there is this boy that sits behind me im german class and he is wayy smarter than me and very handsom. i guess im not and never will be an andvance learner.i like your voice;)best part!

Fido, this is indeed slow enough to follow for those of us who have had German classes but cannot follow, for instance, German TV newscasts or have trouble with movies without subtitles.

Believe me, it is a lot slower than native Germans usually talk. I know it is not easy. But this podcast is not for beginners, but for advanced learners. And you have the possibility to read along and to listen as many times as you want.

This is not slow.
It may be slow for you but it is too much fast for people whose native language is not German.
