Slow Deutsch # 036 - Children's Songs
October 2nd, 2008 by admin

Today I want to tell you something about children's songs, because I know that many of my students are parents themselves and have small children. There are a lot of songs, and later I'll let you have some audition. My podcast colleagues Rickie and Tina have extra altotajo a medley.

Most nursery rhymes date from the 19th in Germany Century. Some authors have written articles for children up to 500 songs. Children's songs are sung to children, especially from parents. Children learn through music and the text a lot new things. The constant repetition of certain lines to make them fun. And for many children's songs, there are hand motions or similar. Every child in Germany mark the song "Hoppe, hoppe Reiter". As the child sits on the knee of an adult than it would be a rider on a horse. At one point during the song but the rider falls off his horse down - the adults, the simulated with the child, but it holds it firmly, of course, so it does not hurt. For children it's great fun.

Even in kindergarten or elementary school, the old songs are sung over and over. The songs have several verses, and I must confess that I usually only the first by heart - if at all. The simple children's song is probably "all my ducks," which you could very easily play on the piano. Then there's "Johnny Small", "A bird wanted to be married," "All the birds are already there" "If a bird flew" or or "bunny in the pit." You notice already - in many songs it's about animals and to nature.

Often, however, one notices that the songs are very old. So a song starts with the line "it rattles the mill by the rushing stream, clip-clop". Children in our world today will not know what a mill - flour earlier that there was ground and there was a miller. Many songs are devoted to special occasions. "I go with my lantern," the children sing in the autumn, at St. Martin's. I'll tell you about it soon.

Most important are the lullabies, so songs that are sung to children when they are already lying in bed and asleep. These are soothing, beautiful songs. The most famous is certainly "Sleep, Baby, Sleep" or "Do you know how much are little star". Put a link to a good website with German children's songs and the text to you on my side I slowgerman.com. Or do you look now on your iPod and press the center button, the text comes up. At the end of the text is the link.

Now we hear but Rickie and Tina with her children's songs medley. They live here in Munich and are professional singers. They also make a podcast, it's called " Chicks on Tour ".

And children's songs are also great to learn German. In singing, you can train the super pronunciation and intonation. Very playful and relaxed! Maybe next time in the shower? (-:

Hi Annik, I am from China and now I work in Switzerland. I am now learning German, and thanks for your podcast, I really like. Unfortunately, now I could not see the text in my new iPod Touch and is a common problem for the iPod Touch. Could you also fill the text in the "lyrics", then we can again see the text in our iPod Touch. Thank you! Chunlei

    Annik,

I was very moved while listening to this podcast about the children songs. All these songs my mother used to sing to me and my sister when we were young living in Uruguay. We grew up singing them in two and three-part harmonies ... I had not heard them for so long!
Thank you for your podcast. Now my daughter listens to it with her classmates and teacher in her class in high school Deutsch.
    Thank you,

    Irene

This is a medley of different children's songs: "All the birds are already there," "all my ducks", "Johnny Small", "On the wall, lying in wait" and "fox you've stolen the goose." You already realize: Most of the titles of the songs are just her first line!

    All my ducks
    floating on the lake,
    swim on the lake!
    Head under water,
    Tail into the air.

All the birds are already there,
    all birds, all!
    What a singing, playing music,
    Whistling, chirping, Tiereliern!
    Spring wants to invade now,
    comes with song and sounds.

    Johnny small
    went alone
    into the wide world.
    Cane and hat
    stand him well,
    is quite cheerful.
    But mother weep much,
Matt has no more so now!

On the wall, on the lookout
    is a small bug.
    Just look at the bugs,
    as the bugs can dance!
On the wall, on the lookout
    is a small bug.

    Fox, you've stolen the goose,
    Give it back to me!
    Give it back to me!
Otherwise you will get the hunter
    With the gun,
Otherwise you will get the hunter
    With the gun.
