# 012: Recycling

What is typically German? Punctuality? Reliability? Dachshund? Dirndl? Or rather, the waste recycling? I know many people from other countries, it seems strange, what do we do with our garbage. For many years, fewer and fewer of them wanders into the dustbin, and more of it is collected by us. There are many different systems in each state is different, sometimes even vary from municipality to municipality. I am telling you now, even as I sit here in Munich to deal with my garbage.

First, there is the possibility to take directly in the supermarket, for example, the cereal bag from the cardboard packaging and through away the box right there. I can also make the film right there by the cucumber or other packaging. If I prefer to take them home, I can collect them at home. I myself collect paper in particular. Prior to my front door is a large container into which I can throw the paper. Once a week, this barrel is emptied. Then there is my house in a brown tonne for biodegradable waste. These are banana skins, tea bags or other biological waste. This waste goes into the compost and will return to earth.

Of course there is in my house, even a so-called residual waste, but there is not much in it lands. For example, because I collect aluminum cans and bring them to a recycling container at the corner. There, I can take all the films and plastic containers, or green, white and brown glass. In order not to lose track of many different garbage container kitchens, so you can sort the same there.

Wood, halogen lamps, metal scraps, or old furniture I can bring to a recycling center, which is a place where these things are then disposed of. For some devices you have to pay money in order to bring them there.

And then of course there are second-hand shops where you can old books, CDs, or Request by similar. And sell the drop-off stores, where other people for things on eBay. But you know from your own determined also.

We Germans are so crazy? I do not know. Again and again we hear that there are now too few "normal" waste, cogeneration plants, which are large power stations, where trash is burned, remain so empty. Some German recycle waste therefore now no more. I myself have learned in elementary school and can not help it - it hurts me in the soul, if I throw glass or paper in the normal trash.
